Will QuickBooks Premier 2019 Really Stop Working?

Ask the Accountant…

Question: I have QB Premier 2019. I have been told by a QB rep that it will stop working at the end of May. Is that true?

Answer: If you have purchased your QB Premier 2019 with a one-time purchase versus a subscription, it will be updated at no additional charge through May 2022. Unless something has changed that I am not aware of, you should still be able to use the program as long as you don’t have QB Payroll or one of their payment systems (to receive payments from customers), which QB can stop providing.

Your QB 2019 would not be cut off. However, you will not have updates or support if needed. I have seen many distributors using QB successfully beyond the three years it is updated. I don’t recommend this, but it has been done in the past. Be sure to keep your backups up to date in case something happens!

Once you go into a subscription model (any purchase of 2022 and beyond), you will be paying an annual subscription fee. If you don’t pay the subscription, you will lose your access to your program and data.
